Discussion of working approaches and developing of students individual works. Introduction to hard and soft ground line combinations, aquatints, sugarlifts and mezzotint.
Diarmuid Delargy studied at the University of Ulster and the Slade School of Fine Art in London, from which he obtained an MA in 1983. As a printmaker Delargy has few equals in the province, in an art form that has often been associated with sweet images of pastoral retreat. The marks of his drawing technique never find fixed, formal, definitions, but are always in a swirling search for an allusive presence that leaves traces of where they have been.
Delargy worked in Berlin in the ‘Artists’ Union’ workshop and was printmaker-in-residence at the Arts Council of Northern Ireland in 1988. He has had solo shows at the Orchard Gallery, Derry, the Fenderesky Gallery, Belfast, and the Taylor Galleries, Dublin. He has participated in numerous internationally toured group shows.
