Scuba

‘Scuba’ is part of the Inquisitive Hare series inspired by a previous public art commission undertaken for the Department of Education for Scoil Iomar in Galway. Since the commission Donnacha has expanded the character and depicted him in many different scenarios as he journeys through life. Scuba is Inquisitive about the undiscovered world underwater. He prepares himself to dive into a world of adventure. 

Donnacha Cahill is a sculptor specialising in Bronze and Steel.  A Fine-Art graduate from the ‘Galway Mayo Institute of Technology’, Donnacha is renowned for his ability to create sculpture that tells a story but also allows the viewer to interpret the work with their own narrative. Donnacha has created work for both public and private collections. His work is highly collectible and is in collections nationally and internationally. He has been commissioned to create large-scale work for such institutions as, The Department of Education,The Electric Picnic, RTE, Business to Arts, Dublin Airport, and many other prestigious private companies. One of his signature pieces, ‘the Gramophone’, a larger than life art installation, has appeared at many of Ireland’s and The UK’s leading art’s festivals. Donnacha believes in creating work that acts as a vessel to inspire and tell stories. He is inspired by his every day surrounding and observations from his home in Athenry, Co Galway.
