This is a two day introduction to printmaking with a focus on intaglio (drypoint and etching) and relief (linoblock cutting). Other print processes such as mono type techniques will also be explored to encourage experimentation.
Each student will gain a foundation in printmaking techniques, which will allow them to develop their own unique style.
Students will leave with a small edition of prints in each technique.

Lino Printing Course
Saturday 25th June & Sunday 26th June

Tutor: Susie Quinn
In this course, Susie takes you through the complete process of creating lino prints from drawing to finished print. This course is suitable for beginners and for the more advanced student.
Susie will start with an introduction to Relief printing, materials required and some safety guidelines. We will look at different styles of lino printing, then you will be designing and planning your own image, transferring this image to a lino block and carving the block through traditional and experimental techniques. We will explore more unusual tools for mark making and look at adding colour through reduction printing and through overprinting plates.
Students will learn to select and prepare suitable papers and create a registration sheet. You will learn how to print, both by hand and by press. You will also learn about signing and editioning.
Each student’s style and creative vision will be expanded and developed by Susie’s individual attention and encouragement.
This promises to be a fun and creative weekend.
